“Paddy On The Canawl”

Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 6:30 PM

Dennis Picard’s new lecture is about the Farmington Canal that linked New Haven with Northampton…passing right through Granby, Southwick and Westfield in the 1820’s.  This huge construction project took thousands of skilled and unskilled workers of many ethnic groups.  Dennis looks at how the Irish laborers built the canal and while initially looked down upon by other segments of society, came to be recognized for their contributions to the effort.

This is living history at its best.  Come join the fun!

This NCCHP living history event is free to museum members and free will donations from others of $5 – $10 to offset expenses are appreciated.  Light refreshments will be served after the program.

Our monthly programs are made possible in part by grants from the Granville Cultural Council and donations from members and friends of the museum.  Thanks in advance for your support to keep history alive!
