Motor Vehicle Excise Bills

About Excise Bills

Excise bills are calculated by the Registry of Motor Vehicles. When you receive your excise bill is based on when you purchased your vehicle, so your due date may differ from someone else’s or be different on your own vehicles. Interest accrues on unpaid balances at the rate of 12% per annum from the 31st day after the issue date of the bill. Any issues with addresses are between the taxpayer and the Registry of Motor Vehicles. It is the taxpayers responsibility to notify the registry of address changes, transferring registrations and turning in of license plates.

Excise Payments

Excise payments are due within thirty days and can be paid online on the Town of Granville Collector’s Online Payment Center. If not paid within 30 days a demand notice is sent. If the demand and outstanding taxes are not paid within 14 days, a warrant is issued to the Deputy Collector. Once the Deputy Collector receives the bill, all payment arrangements are through the Deputy Collector's Office.
