FY 2018 FIRST HALF TAX BILLS WERE MAILED OUT OCTOBER 31ST, 2017 AND WERE DUE DECEMBER 1ST, 2017. INTEREST ACCRUES ON LATE TAX BILLS AS OF DECEMBER 4th, 2017!

Tax Collector: Elected position whose major function is to issue and collect tax payments.

The current Town Tax Collector is Mary Beth Sussmann. Her term ends in 2020. She has generally has office hours on Monday mornings between 9:30am and noon and each Monday night from 7pm-8:30pm except during the summer schedule. The best way to schedule an appointment is to leave a message at her contact number at Town Hall, which is 413-357-8585 ext. 1.

Excise bills are calculated by the Registry of Motor Vehicles. When you receive your excise bill is based on when you purchased your vehicle, so your due date may differ from someone else’s or be different on your own vehicles. Interest accrues on unpaid balances at the rate of 12% per annum from the 31st day after the issue date of the bill. Any issues with addresses are between the taxpayer and the Registry of Motor Vehicles. It is the taxpayers responsibility to notify the registry of address changes, transferring registrations and turning in of license plates.

Excise payments are due within thirty days and can be paid online (see below). If not paid within 30 days a demand notice is sent. If the demand and outstanding taxes are not paid within 14 days a warrant is issued to the Deputy Collector. Once the Deputy Collector receives the bill all payment arrangements are through their office.

The Town’s Deputy Collector is Point Software, Inc. They are located at 200 North Main Street, Suite 1201 West, East Longmeadow, MA 01028. Hours are Monday through Thursday 9am-4pm and on Friday from 9am until 3pm. Their phone number is 413-526-9737.

Abatements are determined by the Town Assessors. Click here to visit their webpage for information and forms.
